LONDON: Cardiff City manager Dave Jones (pic) plans to return to the transfer market after his side kept the pressure on Second Division leaders QPR with a 4-2 win over Watford.
With QPR not in action until Sunday’s home game against Coventry, Cardiff had an opportunity to close the gap on the table-toppers and they did just that in a thrilling clash in Wales.
Jones has already secured loan deals for Arsenal’s Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Aaron Ramsey, but he is keen to bring in two more players before the window closes.
“Every club at the top end of the division is bringing players in and we are no different as I’m still looking for another two apart from those who have arrived this week,” Jones said.
“With regards to Aaron Ramsey, it’s an open loan, and hopefully we can keep him longer than a month, but that will be up to Arsenal.”
Craig Bellamy, Michael Chopra and Jay Bothroyd all scored to hand Cardiff a commanding advantage with just 30 minutes played.
Watford reduced the deficit through Will Buckley while Marvin Sordell’s 10th goal of the season made it 3-2 soon after half-time.
But the Hornets’ fortunes took a turn for the worse after that as Buckley saw a goal disallowed and also cannoned an effort off a post.
Cardiff substitute defender Gabor Gyepes then made the points safe in the 83rd minute as Jones’ second placed side moved within two points of QPR.
