More money for MSL teams this season

PETALING JAYA: Teams can expect more monetary incentives in the new-look Malaysian Super League (MSL) this season.
Besides the annual grant (to be disclosed later), teams in the MSL (Super League and Premier League) will stand to make more money based on their overall rankings and broadcast rights from televised live matches.
MSL chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa said details of the incentives would be announced “once they have been finalised by the FA of Malaysia (FAM)”.
“The philosophy of the MSL is to boost the growth of professional football and to bring improvement. The MSL believe it’s time that commercial aspects of the sport are improved in line with the developing standard of the game,” said Annuar at the 2011 MSL team briefing session held at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday.
The MSL Sdn Bhd, the commercial arm of the FAM, yesterday unveiled their plans to take Malaysian football to greater heights by helping teams make more money through enhanced marketing and promotional efforts.
Annuar, who is also FAM deputy president, later announced new MSL chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam would spearhead the new initiatives.
During the briefing, the MSL unveiled the new ‘Liga Malaysia’ logo and introduced the participating teams to the commercial rights and activities of media partner Astro, which has pledged RM120mil to FAM over the next four years.
The sleek new logo features a majestic ‘Harimau’ atop a stylised sphere comprising ‘Jalur Gemilang’ colours.
