Portuguese leader Porto beats Maritimo 4-1


LISBON, Portugal (AP): FC Porto beat Maritimo 4-1 to finish the first half of the Portuguese league season unbeaten on Saturday.
Porto's 13th win in 15 games put it 11 points ahead of Benfica, which faces Leiria on Sunday. It was Maritimo's first league loss since September.
Freddy Guarin opened the scoring after 38 minutes with an incredible blast from 40 meters out before Hulk doubled the advantage with a shot from outside the area in the 61st.
Baba pulled one back for Maritimo in the 71st before Guarin re-established the two-goal margin five minutes later. James Rodriguez capped the resounding victory after receiving from Hulk in the 81st.
Also, Sporting snapped a two-game losing streak to Braga at its Jose Alvalade Stadium by hanging on for a 2-1 victory.
Diogo Salomao received from Simon Vukcevic in the 12th, cutting across the area before firing home. Jaime Valdes made it 2-0 only a minute later with an acrobatically hit shot.
Paulo Cesar hit back in the 18th for Braga, which was seventh.
In Sunday's other 15th round of games, it's: Rio Ave vs. Olhanense; Nacional vs. Beira Mar; Academica vs. Pacos Ferreira; and Guimaraes vs. Naval.
Setubal beat Portimonense 4-3 on Friday.
