ROME: Italian international goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, who had fallen out of favour at Cagliari where he hadn’t played since the beginning of the season, has signed for Serie A rivals Genoa, the club confirmed on Friday.
Genoa also announced the signing of 22-year-old Swedish central defender Joel Ekstrand from Helsingborg until June 2015 and Franco-Senegalese midfielder Abdullay Konko for 6mil.
Marchetti, 23, played in all three of Italy’s World Cup matches in South Africa following a herniated disc suffered by first choice stopper Gianluigi Buffon.
