Dalglish expects great things from El Nino

WOLVERHAMPTON: Kenny Dalglish believes Fernando Torres is back to his best after the Liverpool striker’s double clinched a 3-0 win at Wolves.
Torres is displaying glimpses of his old self after a lacklustre opening to the campaign and the Spain star took his goal tally to nine with a pair of close range finishes at Molineux on Saturday.
With midfielder Raul Meireles also beginning to fulfil his potential, Dalglish is confident his first victory in four matches since his return to Anfield will be the prelude to a revival for the Reds.
“It was the best Torres has played since I came in. The way he worked and way he took his goals was excellent,” Dalglish said.
“He showed that he wanted to do something and he did it. His goal last week won’t have done him any harm so we’re happy.”
There was further good news for Liverpool fans as Dalglish revealed he is ready for an assault on the January transfer window.
The Scot has been linked with Ajax’s Luis Suarez, Aston Villa winger Ashley Young and Blackpool’s Charlie Adam as he bids to mount a revival at Anfield.
Dalglish insists he has been given cast-iron assurances that he will be provided with a huge transfer kitty before the transfer window slams shut.
He said: “We’ve had a very amicable conversation with the owners and they were very supportive. They have said we can bring players in if we find them.
“The most important thing is that we bring in players that are going to improve us. We have a huge amount of responsibility to do it responsibly as well.
“There is no sum of money but if we need someone we can bring them in. That’s also not dependent on selling players either.”
Dalglish will be further boosted by the return of England star Steven Gerrard for Wednesday’s game with Fulham.
And he can surely see the green shoots of recovery, following Roy Hodgson’s disappointing regime, especially with Portuguese midfielder Meireles showing signs of finally adapting to English football.
“I was delighted with Raul. He played well last weekend against Everton and scored in that one so I think he’s going for the Golden Boot now!” Dalglish said.
