Brazil into second round; Ecuador wins


MOQUEGUA, Peru (AP): Brazil drew 1-1 with Boliva on Sunday to reach the second round of South American qualifying for the Under-20 World Cup, and Ecuador defeated Paraguay 1-0 to move closer to clinching a place in the next stage.
Henrique gave Brazil a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute, with Darwin Rios equalizing for Boliva in the 77th.
Edson Montano's goal in the 59th gave Ecuador victory.
Brazil improved to seven points on top of Group B. Ecuador has four points in two matches, Paraguay three in three and Bolivia has one in two games. Colombia, which did not play, has one point in two matches.
In Group A, which resumes on Monday, Argentina has reached the second round with seven points in three games. Uruguay is next with four points in three games, Chile with three in two, Venezuela with two in two and Peru without a point in two matches.
The top three teams in each group qualify for the second round, in which all six teams play each other once with the top four advancing to the World Cup later this year in Colombia. The top two qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
The second round begins Jan. 31.
