Leaders QPR keen to keep loan star Walker

LONDON: QPR boss Neil Warnock plans to keep Kyle Walker for the rest of the season after the on-loan Tottenham defender helped his side move seven points clear at the top of the Championship.
Warnock’s team beat Coventry 2-0 on Tuesday thanks to a second half own goal from Coventry goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and Tommy Smith’s effort.
In the 49th minute, Walker burst down the right and smashed in a near post shot that hit Westwood’s shoulder and cannoned into the net.
The visitors netted again in the 61st minute when Adel Taarabt curled over a delightful cross which Smith glanced into the bottom corner.
Warnock was delighted with Walker’s latest dominant display and he said: “I’ve spoken to Harry a number of times and they’re very, very happy that he’s playing games.
“He’s not going to get in their team at the moment and the next best thing is to go somewhere he can learn his trade and come up against different wingers.
“There’s very much a chance (that we’ll be able to keep him for the rest of the season). I’ll be speaking to Harry again.”
Cardiff boss Dave Jones wants to make several signings in the January window after the Bluebirds’ promotion hopes were dented by Watford in a 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road.
“It’s probably our worst performance of the season. That’s taking nothing away from Watford, but I think there were too many bodies out there that shouldn’t have been,” Jones said.
Jermaine Easter’s first goal for Swansea clinched a 1-0 victory over Barnsley and ensured Brendan Rodgers’ side ended a three-match winless run to move level on points with local rivals Cardiff.
Leeds defender Andy O’Brien scored two own-goals as Portsmouth battled back to snatch a 3-3.
